10th April 2023, China successfully launched a new remote-sensing satellite named "Jilin-3" into orbit. The satellite was launched from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in north China's Shanxi Province, and is expected to operate for five years.

The Jilin-3 satellite is equipped with high-resolution imaging and data transmission capabilities, and will be used for environmental monitoring, resource surveys, disaster prevention and mitigation, and other applications. It is part of China's ongoing efforts to develop its space technology capabilities, and is expected to play an important role in supporting the country's sustainable development goals.

The launch of the Jilin-3 satellite is also seen as a significant step forward in China's space program, as it marks the country's first successful launch of a remote-sensing satellite since the country's Tiangong-2 space lab was decommissioned in 2019.
